Just recently I was sitting in Starbucks and happened to overhear a conversation between two girls, where one of them was telling the other one how she read an article on drinks which when you drink them, you lose weight without actually putting in any efforts. 

This got me thinking is there really a magic potion that makes you lose weight? And are we that oblivious to these that we don't even know about them, and instead spend hours in the gym. The fact is that there isn't any magic potion out there which you drink and voila you manage to shed a few pounds.

However, if you are currently drinking calorie-rich drinks then switching to calorie-free ones will definitely help you lose weight. Here are 6 ways to quench your thirst without packing on pounds.

Ice cold water

The human body is constantly trying to maintain a static temperature of 98.6 degrees. In the process of, bringing the temperature of the cold water to that of your body’s you end up burning fat or calories. You'll lose an extra 5 kilograms a year just by drinking ice cold water.

I am one of those people who needs a strong cup of joe, first thing in the morning. However, I was unaware of the fact that it even helps you to lose weight. Coffee fills you up more than water simply because caffeine helps suppress hunger.

Who doesn't love green tea? It is cheap and easy to make, and on top of that if you drink 3-5 cups of green tea every day you will end up burning 35-45% more fat.

It is a well-known fact that one of the many benefits of water is faster metabolism. Over the years it has also been established that drinking flavoured water helps in losing weight. Drinking a cup of hot or warm lemon water in the morning assists with overall weight loss.

The ancient Mexican energy drink called Chia Fresca can help you lose weight. The chia seeds expand in your stomach and keep you full, and thus, you don't get any cravings. It is not even that difficult to make, in fact, the ingredients required to make this are staples of most households.

  • 1.5 tbsp chia seeds
  • Half tsp fresh lemon juice
  • Natural sweetener to taste

Smoothies are the best thing to drink when you’re trying to lose weight cause not only do they fill you up, which means no more unnecessary cravings, but they’re also a perfect mix of relatively low-calorie, yet nutrient-laden ingredients that are capable of keeping you full for a long time.
